Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to donate all of his presidential salary. Trump recently compared his strategy to that of career politicians, claiming that he came to Washington to restore power to the people rather than to amass wealth. He said, “I will donate my salary again,” adding that few, if any, presidents had made the same pledge since George Washington.
Throughout his first term, Trump allocated his approximately $400,000 yearly salary to a number of federal agencies, such as Agriculture, Homeland Security, and Health, focusing the money on particular projects and programs. The reaffirmed pledge coincides with Trump’s ongoing efforts to establish himself as an outsider to the political establishment and emphasize his readiness to put public service ahead of personal benefit.
