It was a blazing hot day, perfect for the pool. My husband and I, along with our kids – Emily (10), Lucas (8), Sophie (6), and Ben (4) – arrived early to snag some sunbeds. We set up our towels and cooler, then jumped into the water, enjoying the day to the fullest.
Suddenly, this rude guy in his late 20s, wearing designer sunglasses, strutted over, tossed our stuff off the sunbeds, and claimed them for himself. I noticed from the pool and rushed over, saying, “Excuse me, those are ours.”
He barely looked at me. “They’re mine now. You should’ve come earlier if you wanted them.”
I was fuming, but before I could react, little Ben toddled over, confused. “Mommy, why is our stuff on the ground?”

xI knelt down, trying to maintain my composure. “It’s okay, sweetie. We’ll find another spot.”
We moved to a patch of grass, trying to stay positive despite the blatant injustice. All day, that guy lounged on our beds, grinning at us arrogantly as if he owned the place.
But here comes the most interesting part. As evening approached, the pool staff announced that they had found a valuable item left unattended on one of the sunbeds. It was a wallet, and inside it was a considerable sum of money along with various credit cards and identification.
The staff called out, asking if anyone had lost their wallet. The entitled guy, still basking in the sun on our stolen sunbeds, casually glanced over. When he realized what was happening, his face turned pale, and he quickly patted his pockets, pretending to search for his own wallet.
But it was Ben who spoke up, his innocent voice carrying across the poolside. “Mommy, that’s the man who took our sunbeds!”
People turned to look, and suddenly the atmosphere shifted. The entitled guy’s smug expression vanished as the pool staff approached him, asking if the sunbeds were indeed his and if he could prove it.
He stammered, trying to come up with excuses, but his guilt was evident. The staff members weren’t convinced, especially after hearing Ben’s honest testimony. In the end, the entitled guy was forced to relinquish the sunbeds and leave the pool area. As he gathered his belongings in a hurry, he shot us a look of defeat, realizing that his attempt to assert dominance had backfired spectacularly.
After he left, the pool staff approached us, apologizing for the inconvenience and thanking Ben for his honesty. They offered us complimentary drinks and snacks as a gesture of goodwill. As we relaxed by the poolside once again, I couldn’t help but feel proud of my son. In his own innocent way, he had taught that entitled guy a valuable lesson about honesty and fairness. And as for us, we learned that sometimes, it takes the honesty of a child to restore justice in the world.
